i just bought a hdmi cable for my 42" vizeo and when i plug it into my dell xps m1530 laptop it comes up as no signal no matter what hdmi port i have it plugged into. i have tryed all 4 and none of them work with it. i have a bluray plugged in so i know its not the tv. any advice?

Dell XPS Laptop.

Hi, I currently have my Dell Xps m1530 laptop hooked up to my LCD tv via an HDMI cable. When it is hooked up on the highest resolution (1440×900) it cuts off some of the picture, this doesn’t bother me that much as i can just lower the resolution and have the picture set to widescreen on the TV. My real problem is that when i try to play a movie from my laptop i get no sound out of the TV i have tried hooking up an audio in cable to both my headphone jacks on my TV and Laptop, but this hasnt worked. Any suggestions or ideas?

I have a HD-DVR Scientific-Atlanta box from Time Warner canble. It has a usb port on the front, two 1394(firewire) ports in the back, and a hdmi port. I’d like to get some recorded programs onto my Dell XPS laptop. Do I need both a pci express card and a tv tuner?? Do I need any hardware at all?? I probably don’t know what I’m talking about…please help!! By the way, I can’t afford/don’t want a dvd recorder.

My samsung scl906 has s-video and my Dell XPS M1330 does not. I am confused how can I capture video from samsung to my laptop which has IEEE 1394, HDMI and VGA system. What kind of cable or converter I can use to connect IEEE1394 with S-Video. Help please
